The Thanks Badge II for Continuing Service recognizes an adult member who has already received a Thanks Badge and who has continued to contribute in extraordinary ways that benefit the total council or the entire Girl Scout movement.
Criteria
- The candidate is a registered Girl Scout adult volunteer or staff member.
- The candidate has received the Thanks Badge.
- Since receipt of the Thanks Badge, the candidate has provided distinguished service by:
- The service benefits the total council or entire Girl Scout movement
- The service is outstanding and is so significantly beyond expectations that no other award is appropriate.
Nomination
An individual or group familiar with the candidate’s performance submits an application or a narrative account of the candidate’s accomplishments to the Adult Development Director by February 18th. The narrative documents the service and its scope and impact to the council’s Recognitions Committee.
Four individuals or groups familiar with the service performed provide letters of support, to be submitted with the nomination.

Approval
The Recognitions Committee; facilitated by the Adult Development Director; reviews all nominations and letters of support for awards presented at the council level. Their recommendation for each award nomination is given to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors gives final approval for this award.
Form of Recognition
The Thanks Badge II is similar to the Thanks Badge and has a blue band inside a gold band. It has a red stone in the center.
Presentation of Award
The Thanks Badge II is presented at the TIGSC’s Annual Meeting, held on the second Monday in May each year.
Examples of Potential Candidates
- A council trainer who, after directing council-wide training events, successfully implements a statewide or regional training event.
- A board member whose continuous strong leadership has resulted in greater financial stability for the council.
- The chair of a strategic planning task group whose leadership inspires a pluralistic, visionary plan.
