Adult recognitions are a means for adult volunteers of the Thousand Islands Girl Scout Council to be honored for their contributions to our organization. While some may not feel that recognitions are important to them personally, as an organization TIGSC is committed to honoring our adult volunteers for their time, skill, and dedication to Girl Scouts. As peers, it is our responsibility to nominate fellow adult Girl Scouts who meet the criteria for described adult recognitions, so that they will know that their service is appreciated and does not go unnoticed.
There are two categories of adult recognitions - TIGSC and Neighborhood recognitions.
Thousand Islands Girl Scout Council Recognitions
- TIGSC recognitions are accepted through an application process, with the exception of the 10+ Year pins.
- All applications must be completed in its entirety and accompanied by the appropriate letters of recommendation.
- All TIGSC recognitions are review by a volunteer recognitions committee, which makes recommendations for approval to the Board of Directors.
- TIGSC level adult recognitions are included in the Adult Development budget.
- ALL TIGSC recognitions are presented at the Annual Meeting in May.
Neighborhood Recognitions
- All Neighborhood members are encouraged to nominate individuals that they feel are deserving of recognition.
- Neighborhood recognitions are presented and, if applicable, paid for by the Neighborhood Team.
- Applications for Neighborhood recognitions must be received by the Membership Specialist by the 3rd Friday in April.
