Fort Drum Neighborhood

Fort Drum Neighborhood is considered a dual neighborhood with Indian River Neighborhood due to the unique geographic and school district circumstances of these two areas. Girl Scouts that meet on post are automatically a part of Fort Drum Neighborhood. However, any troop that meets in military (or 801) housing within the boundaries of Indian River's borders may CHOOSE if they want to be with Fort Drum or Indian River Neighborhood. Troop leaders can be military or civilian.

Neighborhood Chair - Vacant

Fort Drum Neighborhood's regularly scheduled leader meetings are held on the 1st Thursday of each month, September - June.  This meeting is held at the Girl Scout Hut on Nash Boulevard on Fort Drum starting at 6:30pm.

Working together, the volunteers in the Fort Drum Neighborhood provide innovative program opportunities through troop and Service Unit activities.  Past activities have included:

  • Family picnics
  • Brownie Blitz
  • Junior Aloha Event
  • Sing-a-longs
  • Thinking Day

There are many active, exciting Girl Scout troops in the Fort Drum Neighborhood.  However, troops fill fast leaving some girls on a waiting list.  We are looking for committed, caring adults who can give of their time.  1 hour, 1 month, weekly meeting, bi-weekly meetings, 1 meeting per month.  Whatever fits into your busy schedule fits Girl Scouting.  Be a leader/co-leader/assistant leader, share a craft, share a skill/hobby, or share your administrative or organizational skills.  If you can make the commitment to mentor girls to grow to be strong, resourceful citizens, then we would like you to be a Girl Scout volunteer.
