True Stories From Camp Trefoil

"Kathy, Thank you so much for a great weekend. My girls will never forget it. Its unbelievable all the things they experienced this weekend. If they were asked if they thought they could have carried a 140 lb person on a stretcher uphill before this weekend they all would have said "NO WAY." If they were asked about building a fire in the winter using what they could find outside they would have said "NO WAY" and of course if they had been asked about sleeping in a tent in10 degree weather they would have said "NO WAY." So, now they have been exposed to so many different experiences they memories that will stay with them the rest of their lives. This was such an amazing weekend, I can't thank you enough. What a great confidence builder. Most of my girls came away with new friends, addresses and pen pals!

"And the songs. My girls sand ALL the way home! My husband got up with my girls on Sunday AM, he asked what they wanted for b'fast and they said "Don't want no pop, no pop, don't want no tea, no tea, just give me that milk moo moo moo NY state milk!" He was a little baffled, I told him you have to be a Girl Scout to get it! Thank again, we can't wait to see what you have for us next time."

“My Memories” of Camp Trefoil

“Loved taking my Junior Troop camping there. Our daughter loved camping there both summer and mid-winter.” —Margaret B. Coe, Watertown, NY

“I cooked for three years at Camp Trefoil and have good memories of Joe Cunningham, who didn’t like me to use pepper in the food and Gus Wiley and her son who was just a little fellow then…and all the other counselors.”—Rachel Hooper, Harrisville, NY

“I have many…probably the most unique are the ones that happened the first year camp opened…my mother was a counselor…it was great fun. Nature walks with Ruth Parker…singing with Martha Pollard, etc.”—Penny Guyette, Carthage, NY

“Our gift is in memory of Addison McDonald who went on many camping expeditions with Girl Scout troops from Lewis County.”—Mr. and Mrs. Joseph (Charlotte) Beagle, Lowville, NY

“Since the time the camp property was purchased…while my mother was Girl Scout commissioner…at that time, and from then until the early 1980s, I helped at camp as nurse…I <also served> as chairman of camp committee, did volunteer work and participated for more than 30 years…it was interesting to see the development and concerns we had through the years…hopefully it <the camp> can continue.”—Carolyn E. Whitney, Watertown, NY
