Appreciation Pin

 The Appreciation Pin recognizes and adult who has delivered outstanding service to at least one geographic area, neighborhood, or program delivery audience.

Criteria

  • The candidate is a registered Girl Scout adult volunteer or staff member.
  • The candidate has provided outstanding service to a geographic area or program delivery area in a way that furthers the council’s goals.
  • The service goes beyond the expectations for the position.

Nomination

An individual or group familiar with the candidate’s performance submits an application or a narrative account of the candidate’s accomplishments to the Adult Development Director by February 18th.  The narrative documents the service and its scope and impact to the council’s Recognitions Committee.

Two individuals or groups familiar with the service performed provide letters of support, to be submitted with the nomination.

Approval

The Recognitions Committee; facilitated by the Adult Development Director; reviews all nominations and letters of support for awards presented at the council level.  Their recommendation for each award nomination is given to the Board of Directors.  The Board of Directors gives final approval for this award.

Form of Recognition

The Appreciation Pin is a square gold tone pin depicting the Girl Scout logo.

Presentation of Award

The Appreciation Pin is presented at the TIGSC’s Annual Meeting, held on the second Monday in May each year.

Examples of Potential Candidates

  • A person who develops and implements a successful family partnership program that exceeds financial goals.
  • A geographic area director or team member whose management of the area or team results in an increase in membership ratio in all groups and a stable retention pattern over several years.
  • A staff member who has successfully established and supported a variety of program delivery methods in an area that results in increased girl and adult membership from under-represented populations.
  • The manager of a highly successful product sale.
