The Thousand Islands Girl Scout Council (TIGSC) is one of 316 Girl Scout Councils chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA). Our Council serves Lewis, Jefferson, and St. Lawrence Counties and was incorporated in 1963, unifying several small, northern New York council groups under one central administration. TIGSC's Service Center is located at 253 State Street in Watertown, N.Y.
Northern New York's first Girl Scout troop was the "Lily-of-the-Valley" Troop in Redwood. Chartered in 1914, it was one of the first 10 Girl Scout troops in the entire United States.
TIGSC is divided into 13 geographic areas called Neighborhoods, based largely upon school districts. Each area is headed by volunteers called Neighborhood Chairs or Neighborhood Co-Chairs.
